Tim
Seebold Wins In Colorado For 5th Time In 7 Years
Torrente’s Bad Luck Continues; Rinker 2nd &
Fairchild 3rd
WINDSOR, Colorado – Sunday, September 4, 2007 – Tim Seebold waited
patiently for an opportunity and took advantage of Shaun Torrente’s spark plug
wire failure on the 41st of 50 laps to take his 3rd victory of the season and
his 5th in 7 years in Colorado to take the 5th Round of the 2007 F1-ChampBoat
Grand Prix Series race in front of thousands of fans at the foothills of the
Rocky Mountains on Water Valley Lake in Windsor, one hour north of Denver,
Colorado.
The Bud Light Seebold Race team driver was aced out on the start by Torrente as
the Miami, Florida driver moved from 2nd to the lead and built up to a 10 second
margin until the 17th lap when the race was red flagged when Greg Foster of
Anaheim Hill, California, making his first racing appearance in two years, spun
out on the apex of turn four stopping the race and forcing a restart.
Again, Torrente held the point with Seebold, the Osage Beach, Missouri driver
moving from 3rd to 2nd off the start chasing the California Gold Racing driver
for the next 24 laps until Torrente’s boat slowed giving the 43 year-old driver
a chance to pounce into the lead that he would never relinquish to the end.
“It was a great day for the Bud Light Team and we continue to have the magic
here in Windsor,” stated Seebold. “We worked hard to get the right set-up and it
paid off in the end as we had to hold off a hard charging Terry Rinker and Chris
Fairchild to the checkers.”
Terry Rinker in his Amsoil sponsored Leecraft boat pushed Seebold to the limit.
Finally, at the one-third mark of the race, the Tampa, Florida driver got side
by side and almost overtook the Missouri driver as they came through a hard 135
degree turn number four. The 2-time defending champion slid sideways and never
got close enough again to make a pass and finished 1.8 seconds behind at the
flag.
Chicago area driver Chris Fairchild took a well earned 3rd place closing up on
the front two boats near races end and has now moved himself into 2nd place in
the championship just 88 points back of Seebold. He has 2639 points with two
races to go in the season and hope for his first title.
“We didn’t quite have the speed today and are going back home to test some
more,” said Chris. “We have a small crew and we’ve done a good job and my family
has helped a lot this season. We still have a chance and will work even harder
to win our first title.”
Mike Seebold, the 2nd driver in the Bud Light Seebold Racing Team enjoying his
2nd ride of the season came home in 4th coming into the weekend looking forward
to tackling his first win in Colorado and his all-time leading 29th victory in
the history of the sport. He did his best in a boat that he had little time
testing. He is now expected to focus on winning another Offshore title in Key
West, Florida in November.
Torrente, had to settle for 5th place and when it was over all he could do was
shake his head after winning the “B” main earlier in the day and finishing 2nd
in the special Wyatt Nelson Benefit “Dash For Cash” to Tim Seebold leaving him
2nd in the starting line-up.
“I don’t know what more we could have done,” said the driver from Miami. “We had
a pair of great starts, but again bad luck set in when a spark plug wire came
loose and it’s another race and a moral victory to take home that’s all. What
really hurts us now is that we are 145 points back in 4th in the championship
with just two races left.”
Lynn Simburger of Elsah, Illinois again had a great run finishing 6th from his
lowly 12th starting spot off the grid after having equipment problems in the B
main. He continues to sit 5th in the championship this season and is looking to
finish again in the top five for the 7th time in the last 8 seasons.
Randy Rinker of Syracuse, Indiana took home 7th place in his Amsoil sponsored
boat with Jeff Shepherd in his J Shepherd Construction/Chris Fairchild Racing
sponsored Pugh design came home 8th after starting 8th and sits 6th in the
championship for the driver from Woodlawn, Tennessee.
Matt Sadl of Pacific, Missouri was 9th after qualifying 10th in his first race
of the season, Brian Venton of Toronto, Ontario took 10th with another rookie
Chuck Unkle of Thomasville, Georgia came home 11th in his new Pugh boat. Tim
Fry, also in his first race from Kansas City, Missouri finished 12th.|
Local favorite Greg Foster, making his first race appearance in two years, was
disqualified for running illegal equipment after finishing the race in the top 5
after the full 50 laps.
The 6th Round of the 2007 F1-ChampBoat Grand Prix Series heads off to Phoenix,
Arizona and Firebird Lake for the weekend of September 29th and 30th with four
drivers still having a chance to capture the title. Four-time title holder Tim
Seebold is holding a slim 88 point advantage. It will take every lap to probably
determine this championship. Isn’t that what racing is all about?

Tim
Seebold Takes Roar Of The Rockies Pole Position
Fairchild & Rinker Round Out Top 3 In Colorado Event
WINDSOR, Colorado – Sunday, September 02, 2007 – Tim Seebold of the
Bud Light Seebold Racing Team came back from a less than spectacular qualifying
effort by winning both heat races in Group B to take pole position for
tomorrow’s 7th “Roar of the Rockies” to be raced in front of thousands of fans
on Water Valley lake in the North Central Colorado city of Windsor.
Seebold, who continues his string of great results on the lake will lead the
field of drivers tomorrow from the number one position looking for his 5th win
in 7 starts here in the Centennial State.
“We did a great job coming back from a less than spectacular setup in
qualifying,” stated Tim. “We now are looking a lot better but will have to hold
off a lot a great driver’s to win tomorrow.”
Chris Fairchild of Paw Paw, Illinois finished 3rd in his first heat combined
with winning the 2nd heat of Group A giving him enough to start 2nd off the dock
on the four pin one mile race circuit tomorrow.
Two time defending F1-ChampBoat champion Terry Rinker in the Amsoil sponsored
machine will start 3rd finishing 2nd in both heats to Tim Seebold and is hoping
that the boat he is driving continues to have good luck on this circuit having
won the last time the hull was raced here with Jason Campbell at the controls of
the Leecraft in 2005.
Starting 4th will be all-time race winning leader Mike Seebold in the 2nd Bud
Light sponsored boat after finishing 2nd in two heats in Group A. The native of
St. Louis, Missouri will be looking for his record breaking 29th career win and
his first in Colorado.
Fifth will be another returning driver Greg Foster of Anaheim Hills, California,
who is 6th all time in victories on the circuit, as he goes for his 11 career
checkered flag. He’ll be in the Water Valley Seebold hull returning to the
series for the first time in two years after finishing 5th here in Windsor back
in 2005.
The remainder of the field on Monday will be caught up in a wild run for spots
off the dock with a “B Main” and a “Dash for Cash” finally solving the puzzle of
the starting line-up for the main event of the afternoon.
Some surprising drivers will be forced to run the “B” event beginning with
fastest qualifier Shaun Torrente of Miami, Florida who easily won the first heat
of Group A only to have his battery go flat failing to start the 2nd start and
now relegated to push for a spot up front.
Canadian Brian Venton will lead the “B” Main after colliding with Randy Rinker
in a heat race tearing up his left sponson and expecting a long night fixing his
boat.
Jeff Shepherd of Tennessee will start 2nd after two fine runs with Illinois
driver Lynn Simburger in the 3rd position looking to move up as well.
The 5th round of the 2007 F1-ChampBoat Grand Prix Series will take place on
Water Valley Lake at 4 pm local (16:00) Mountain Daylight Time; 18:00 Eastern
Daylight Time (EDT) and 23:00 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Tight
Championship Hi-Lites “Roar Of The Rockies
Four F1-Champboat Drivers Remain In Title Hunt
WINDSOR, Colorado – August 24, 2007 - - It’s amazing what a year will
bring? A season ago it was all the talk of the power boat racing world that if
Floridian Terry Rinker could win 7 straight F1-ChampBoat races he could set a
world record. Well, he did, and a dream season went to the Amsoil sponsored
driver in something that had never been accomplished in the sport. Taking
victory in every race on the season!
Fast forward to 2007 and as the F1-ChampBoat Grand Prix Series heads off to
Windsor, Colorado for the 5th stop on the year, it’s turned into a four driver
shootout for this season’s title. Tim Seebold of the famed Bud Light Seebold
Racing Team leads the championship on the strength of a pair of back to back
victories in Bay City, Michigan and at his home race in St. Louis, Missouri
three weeks ago.
The Missouri driver really knows his way around Water Valley Lake having won
this event in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004 but hopes he doesn’t have the same
problem he had when his power steering unit failed him early in last weekends
event in Warsaw, Kentucky and he had to settle for 4th and see his championship
lead shrink to just 16 points. Considering a driver earns 400 points for each
win on the F1-ChampBoat tour, that’s just a drop in the lake so to speak.
Coming up fast is the first of three serious challengers. Second year driver
Shaun Torrente of the California Gold Racing Team from Miami, Florida has been a
model of consistency all season, being the only driver to reach the top-3 podium
all four races this year. Shaun had the performance of the day after making poor
start on his restart from pole position on the 22nd lap. He fell in a hole last
weekend and recovered in last place. He then put on a spirited drive that saw
him race through the pack of drivers reaching as high as 3rd until his setup
started giving him problems late in the race barely giving last seasons “Rookie
of the Year” a chance to come across the finish line at the end of the 50 lap
event.
Chris Fairchild of Paw Paw, Illinois charged up from 5th starting position and
put in a fantastic performance taking the runner-up spot and with his win in the
championships first race in Augusta, Georgia in May on the Savannah River, he
now sits just 41 points back and is primed to take victory for the first time on
Water Valley Lake in Windsor.
Terry Rinker, with his great performance from 6th place off the start to push
hard towards the front and taking over 1st place on the restart, charged his way
to a 6 second victory and snapping his 4 race winless streak in the process.
Terry now has moved into a tie for 3rd place overall for most wins in the
history of F1-ChampBoat racing with 16 overall equal to the great driver Bill
Seebold who now manages the Bud Light race team.
Fighting for an outside chance at the title having now moved up four spots from
9th in the championship to 5th is Illinois driver Lynn Simburger of Elsah, who
continues to push hard despite a limited budget showing that he’s still in the
fight despite being 359 points back. The 2nd generation driver has finished in
the top-5 of the series points race six of the last 7 years and is ready to take
his first checkered flag fairly soon in his career.
A couple of “wild cards” are expected to race in Colorado including the
winningest driver in F1-ChampBoat racing history in St. Louis driver Mike
Seebold joining his younger brother Tim in the Bud Light sponsored entry. He is
returning from running an offshore boat two weeks ago and will be primed for a
shot at winning his 29th career win and his first in Windsor. Another former
series champion, Greg Foster from California is also expected to make the Roar
of the Rockies event in the local team entry of Jenson Racing, owned by John and
Scott Jenson, both former competitors on the tour.
Several other strong candidates will be looking to make their mark toward the
Windsor podium including Mark Major from Ontario Canada in a new Grand Prix
boat, and Tennessee’s Jeff Shepard coming off a strong heat win in Kentucky is
ready to turn his luck around. Brian Venton has also improved drastically in his
sophomore season looking to crack the podium with veteran owner/manager Don
Jenkinson.
The high altitude of the circuit will make life interesting for both crews and
drivers as they try to solve the puzzle of less horsepower that less oxygen
brings to these race conditions. The 50 lap feature event will be run on Monday,
September 3rd and can be followed lap for lap with updated timing via computer
right to the www.champboat.com home
page. The 7th “Roar of the Rockies” could shape up to being the best ever event
with drivers desperately seeking championship points with just 3 races to go in
the 2007 season and the right to be called, “F1-ChampBoat Champion”.
