CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Tuesday, September 25, 2007 – Michigan driver Kevin Ladd continued his spectacular “Rookie Round-up” season by winning the 6th Round of the 2007 ChampBoat Champ-2 Series event last weekend in Orange, Texas.

Ten’s of thousands of fans gathered along the levee to witness the 30 lap main feature event on the lovely Sabine River which boarders the states of Texas and Louisiana. The native of Whitmore Lake, Michigan came out early taking the fastest qualifying lap and followed that with a controlled victory over the 16 other drivers who came from throughout North America in the battle for the Champ-2 National Championship Title in these 200 horsepower, 16 foot catamaran boats.

At the start it was Ladd leading the way with Texan’s Glyn Mathews, Michael Schubert and veteran Tracy Hawkins 2,3,4 with Jim Summers from Kansas City, Missouri taking up the top 5 spots off the dock.

Ladd led into the first corner while Mathews slipped to 4th the first of his long day of struggles having mechanical woes that would eventually see him drop out after a spirited run back up to 2nd and pushing for the lead early on in the event.

The race would see two re-starts, one with an accident to and the other with Mathews boat drifting in harms way that needed to be moved by the rescue team.

Ladd, a long time Formula Lights competitor coming from this smaller 75 mile an hour 13 foot catamaran class where he was very successful, has now taken his 2nd professional racing win of the season after capturing the win in Augusta, Georgia in May and continues to have a hot streak that has seen him reach the top-3 podium in every race he’s finished this season.

The final round of the 2007 ChampBoat Champ-2 Class will be held on the Savannah River the first weekend in November at the Grand Prix of Savannah, Georgia.
